Starch Varieties

Starlite
Starlite is a pea starch concentrate derived from the yellow field pea. Starlite contains 85% starch (dry weight basis) with a nice blend of 6% protein. Starlite expands well during extrusion to produce well textured snack foods and breakfast cereals. Starlite pea starch used in noodle, pasta and baking recipes, increases the Resistant Starch (RS) and Slowly Digestible Starch (SDS) of the finished good. Starlite pea starch improves moistness and water retention in both applicatons. Starlite is also used in the making of bean-thread vermicelli.


Probond Starch
Probond contains a blend of pea starch and pea protein. Used as a binding agent, it produces a solid pellet and improves pelleting and extruding functions. Its uses range from precise nutritional petfood recipe to the most rugged industrial binding applications.
